Abel Selaocoe and Nduduzo Makhathini are among today’s most exciting musicians. Both hail from South Africa. One has a classical background; the other comes from the jazz tradition. Abel Selaocoe developed his own voice on his cello by bringing together classical music and African musical traditions. Pianist Nduduzo Makhathini created his own sound from ritual music, gospel, spiritual South African jazz and New York post-bop. Despite their mutual admiration, Selaocoe and Makhathini have not yet met. DE SINGEL brings the two musicians together on stage.
