Abel Selaocoe is one of today’s most exciting musicians. He succeeds in authentically bringing together classical music and African musical traditions and in developing his own voice. Autumn 2022 will see the launch of his first album: Hae Ke Kae / Where is Home. Central to this is the universal need for a place in which you can feel at home. Specifically Selaocoe pays tribute to the countries who gave shelter to South African refugees during the apartheid era: Tanzania, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Botswana. With his powerful voice and African-inspired playing techniques on the cello, Selaocoe creates his own sound worlds which flow into his personal interpretations of Bach, Platti and Marais. For Selaocoe, this is the only way to find a home where he feels good.
