Since 2015 the French mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet and her compatriot Florian Caroubi have been performing as a lied duo, and they immediately made sparks fly at the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Voice-Piano Competition. A year later they were the clear winners at the International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch. A critical jury comprising the major lieder performers Elly Ameling, Jard van Nes and Robert Holl awarded them no fewer than five of the seven prizes. This abundance of prizes was richly deserved, because their imaginativeness and fierily empathic performances made an indelible impression. Florian Caroubi already performed a solo recital at deSingel last season, whilst Adèle Charvet recently made her highly successful debut at the Opera de Bordeaux and at Covent Garden.
