The choreographer, dancer and musician Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola is a member of Sasha Waltz' Berlin dance ensemble. He created a two-part dance spectacle from Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' and Rebel's 'Les Eléments'. '4 Elements' is composed of the four key elements water, earth, air and fire. '4 Seasons' deals, quite naturally, with the four seasons. Both sections connect seamlessly. The first piece introduces the creation, then the development, and finally the inevitable downfall. The second part also deals with the arrival and the end; from the first bud to bloom, trailing into the barrenness of winter.
The orchestra becomes part of the choreography and gives shape to the musical structure, resulting in a complete visual space. The strong interaction between movement and music and between dancer and musicians culminates in a complex interplay between the violinist Ariadne Daskalakis and Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola. The DVD of this dazzling production has recently become a major international success.
