Seventeen-year-old Alexandra Dovgan dazzles with mature, unconventional interpretations.
On the day of this concert, the Russian pianist Alexandra Dovgan will be just seventeen years old. In 2018 she won the Grand Piano Competition in Moscow at the age of eleven, and since then she has performed with many major orchestras and conductors and in the most famous international concert halls. Piano legend Grigory Sokolov hit the nail on the head: ‘You can scarcely describe Alexandra Dovgan as a wunderkind. Because although she is a wonder, what she does is far from child’s play. What you hear is a performance from an adult pianist, a personality.’ A personality that is already shining through in highly individual and idiosyncratic interpretations.
