Every morning the goddess of dawn Aurora runs across the firmament and heralds the arrival of her brother the sun. Similarly, the name Aurora Orchestra heralds ardent, heart-warming music. In no time, the orchestra of conductor Nicholas Collon grew into one of the United Kingdom's most intriguing ensembles. Musicians that convince time and time again with impressive performances in which they play completely from memory so as to experience the music with every fibre of their being. Also at DE SINGEL, they will play Berlioz’ fairy-tale Symphony Fantastique as musical master storytellers without a score. Indeed, the programme will be coloured almost entirely bleu, blanc et rouge: with Maurice Ravel’s swinging Piano Concerto in G, based on the jazz music of his era, and Thomas Adès’ masterful arrangements of the music of François Couperin.
