"Music is as if the soul suddenly spoke its own language in a foreign tongue!" A beautiful quote from the Viennese poet Peter Altenberg (1859-1919) and also the Altenberg Trio's motto, serving as a symbol of the love of beauty, risk-taking, stylistic precision and humour. All characteristics that the three musicians of the Altenberg Trio possess in abundance, and which in this programme are given expression. From the balanced classical forms by Haydn through to the contrasting dramatic and beautiful sound of Schumann to the tongue in cheek satire of Schnittke. In a separate lecture recital organised the evening before the concert, the Altenberg Trio unravels Dvo?ák's Dumky trio. Come and learn everything about the origin of the work, Dvo?ák's folkloric inspiration and his journey into new forms and sound textures.
The Altenberg Trio completes their residency in deSingel with weekend master-classes, where the musicians are on hand to offer tips and advice to various chamber music ensembles.
