Sir András Schiff begins every day with an hour of Bach. Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and Bartók are also amongst his household gods. All these composers are related to Bach in one way or another. They share the same taste for polyphony, clarity and economy. All his life, Schiff has immersed himself in the keyboard oeuvres of these composers. He performs them with an exceptional richness of sound and a phenomenal technique. With his sensitive renditions, he sets standards that will continue to inspire many generations of pianists.
