Andreas Scholl & Tamar Halperin

Countertenor Andreas Scholl is famous for his unforgettable performances of Purcell, Bach and Handel. But his repertoire extends far beyond the Baroque. What is more: Scholl is the man who has brought back the countertenor in contemporary music.
With his permanent pianist Tamar Halperi, he performs music from the past hundred years. Under the name ‘The Twilight People’ he takes us from Alban Berg to Benjamin Britten and Joseph Tawadros. Many of the lieder in this recital are about the transition from light to darkness, beginning to end. Scholl chooses a number of ‘Old American Songs’ by Aaron Copland, but also spiritual works by Arvo Pärt. Pianist Tamar Halperin plays several solo pieces by John Cage, amongst other works. A recital for discriminating connoisseurs.
