Angela Hewitt
As a child, Angela Hewitt dreamt of singing and dancing in musicals. Things turned out rather differently, but in the meantime this Canadian leading lady of the piano has learnt better than anyone how to make the keyboard sing and dance.
Hewitt is best known for her interpretations of Bach. In 1985 she won the Toronto International Bach Competition. She has recorded all Bach’s major works for solo keyboard for the Hyperion label. Each of these fifteen CDs was showered with prizes. Hewitt never tires of Bach. In this recital she will treat us to the Fifth Partita and the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, so that you can experience for yourselves what makes her Bach playing so irresistible. But there is more than Bach to Hewitt. She proves that she can sing and dance as well as anyone in several sonatas by Scarlatti and Beethoven.
