By playing the music of Johann Strauss, van Immerseel and his orchestra, Anima Eterna, are returning to their old secret passion. In 1999, the otherwise strict van Immerseel won over friend and foe with his graceful waltzes and jaunty polkas. Naturally, true to his reputation, in-depth historical research preceded this project. Authentic period instruments were dusted down; the appropriate bows selected. They even danced! Just to get it right. In Brahms' Second Piano Concerto, van Immerseel will not himself be seated at the piano, but will hand the role over to the soloist, the Dutchman Ronald Brautigam.
