Extra info
introduction Tino Haenen & Jos van Immerseel. 7.15pm . Music Studio
Together with Anima Eterna Brugge, Jos van Immerseel is for the first time devoting a whole evening to Gershwin, the brilliant pioneer of crossover music. Swinging rhythms, voluptuous harmonies and delightful tunes. 'An American in Paris' provides a colourful opening, with Gershwin's own impressions as a tourist in the city of light. The jazz pianist Bart Van Caenegem performs in 'Rhapsody in Blue', that musical kaleidoscope of America. You will hear the rarely performed version with the original instrumentation. In a final flourish, the renowned American soprano Claron McFadden - the perfect performer for this oeuvre - will present several unforgettable songs from 'Porgy and Bess'.
