Did you also sit glued to your TV set when it was the turn of the Russian pianist Anna Vinnitskaya in the final of the 2007 Queen Elizabeth Competition? We rarely see such an amazing wealth of nuance, touch and captivating expression. All combined with an unimaginably relaxed pleasure in playing. Vinnitskaya breathes with the music. It's absolutely right that she won first prize. Actually, she would have rather gone horse riding or done gymnastics, but we're grateful that she opted to pursue music! Although the Queen Elizabeth Competition has opened many doors for her, Vinnitskaya continues to concentrate on the completion of her studies and expanding her repertoire. In January 2010 she will graduate from the Hamburg Musikhochschule. You will hear the programme she will play for her final recital exams a few days beforehand in deSingel. In the multi-coloured work of Ravel and the daredevil 'Kreisleriana' by Schumann, Anna Vinnitskaya can fully demonstrate her mastery.
