Anna Vinnitskaja radiates music. In this thoroughbred Romantic programme, she is able to demonstrate her mastery to the full. She has the chance to give her talent as a storyteller free rein in Brahms’ four ‘Ballads’: epic and dramatic miniatures with the most diverse musical characters. In Schumann’s lovely 'Arabeske' and colourful 'Novelette', Vinnitskaja unleashes her staggering wealth of touch and timbre. She lets her effervescent parlando, supple rubato and flowing cantabile playing run wild in Chopin’s ‘Second Sonata’. In the Sonata by Bartók, rhythm, hard dissonances and percussive play take precedence. Highly expressive and above all, complex. But Vinnitskaja gives no indication of this. She imbues even the most difficult works with an incredibly relaxed delight in playing.
