This oratorio tells an intimate and sentimental tale of love in violent times. Even at its darkest moments, Handel’s music glows with hope. Stunning solos and duets allow the astonishingly agile countertenor Tim Mead to shine. Although it is highly likely that Louise Alder will steal your heart in the title role.
