The Israeli pianist Ariel Lanyi is just 21 and is already one of the most interesting pianists that we have heard in recent years. Few pianists already play Schubert so convincingly at such a young age. Everything is there: sound balance, sense of style, a clear structure and emotional tension from start to finish. Time to sit back and enjoy the intimate ‘Moments musicaux’ and the ‘Gasteiner’ Sonata. In these piano works the same emotions resonate that we also know from Schubert’s lieder: fear, hope, loneliness and longing. Markedly lyrical, with an exceptional harmonic richness. Schubert at his best.
This recital replaces the previously announced Schubert recital by Till Fellner, who was obliged to cancel the concert following an injury to his right hand.
