Armida Quartett & Quatuor Modigliani
Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn
Two dynamic string quartets together present a programme of absolute masterpieces of chamber music. Mozart’s String Quintet in G minor is considered the very best he ever wrote. Mozart did not opt for the use of two cellos (as Schubert and Boccherini did) but for two violas. Which gives greater richness and warmth to the inner voices. From string quintet we go on to string sextet. Johannes Brahms was one of the first to venture into this genre. Due to its very lyrical nature and contagious dance rhythms, Brahms’ First String Sextet is one of his most beloved works. Things become even more symphonic in Mendelssohn’s Octet. Brilliant and imposing, lively and imaginative, with a scherzo full of positive energy. You are clearly in for a perfect evening.
