The use of the harp in chamber music is unusual to say the least. A pity, because this instrument adds invariably delightful sound colours and a touch of the exotic. Prepare to be immediately charmed at this concert.
The Czech Jana Bouskova is the grand lady of the harp and has played alongside such illustrious names as Mstislav Rostropovich, Yuri Bashmet and Maxim Vengerov. Here, she performs in the excellent company of Aldo Baerten, well known to you all as deFilharmonie's solo flautist. Baerten has received international acclaim for the breadth of dynamic and the abundance of colour he draws from his wonderfully warm-sounding wooden Braun flute. His expressive interpretations have already resulted in several award-winning CDs. For his part, Tatyana Masurenko is one of the great virtuosos who has seen to it that the viola is now also taken seriously as a solo instrument. As a soloist she shares concert platforms with leading orchestras and is a regular guest at all the major chamber music festivals.
