Barokorkest B’Rock & Rias Kammerchor olv. René Jacobs
Weihnachtsoratorium
An ambitious undertaking. That is the least one can say about this story of the birth of Jesus Christ in six episodes. The narrator, soloists, chorus and a varied orchestra with tympani, trumpets and gurgling oboes together sing jubilantly of their joy. Complex polyphony is heard alongside delightfully direct and almost naive beauty. The music carries us along in a festive and intoxicating daze. And then evokes profound emotion, in the involvement of moving recitatives and heartfelt arias. The chorales provide gentle humility in four parts.
Under the baton of René Jacobs, these become moments of great emotional bonding. And the combination of B’Rock and Jacobs always makes sparks fly. Their performances are marked by energy and drama, and always remain breathtakingly precise. In interaction with the renowned RIAS Kammerchor, this will undoubtedly result in a performance that will make the ‘Christmas Oratorio’ shine like a completely new and unknown work. This is one Christmas present you should give yourself.
While you enjoy the ‘Christmas Oratorio’, your children or grandchildren can take part in a creative workshop.
