1h 15' In 2018 the Bruno Vansina Quintet went on a musical adventure with ‘12/12’. Every month, the band visited a quirky place: an ice rink, motorway, velodrome or fair. The challenge: to incorporate the location into their music making. At deSingel this concept is transposed into the concert hall. The film clips of the on-location numbers become an alternative graphic score. They steer the music, but the musicians also intervene.
The idea for ‘12/12’ came from Bruno Vansina. He is known as the saxophonist from Flat Earth Society, but he has also performed with the Ewout Pierreux Quintet, Rebirth Collective and Score Man. Other projects included the 16-piece Vansina Orchestra and Orchestra Exotica. With kindred spirits like Teun Verbruggen and Cyrille Obermüller, ‘12/12’ can only lead to more creative abundance.
