Under the baton of the inspired conductor Iván Fischer, the very popular Budapest Festival Orchestra has risen to the international top. It had already appeared on stage at deSingel for twenty years, but from now on this leading orchestra will be performing in the Queen Elisabeth Hall. For their tribute to Igor Stravinsky, the musicians will join forces with the famous RIAS Kammerchor.
Stravinsky adopted many different musical guises: a representative of the Russian tradition, a pioneer of French modernism, a fan of jazz music, a champion of neoclassicism… And he made his mark on musical history: since the scandalous premiere in 1913, ‘Le sacre du printemps’ has remained one of the most discussed and most loved compositions of the twentieth century. This Dionysian ballet music pushes the orchestra to the limits of what is playable. An experience!
