Champ d'Action - Studenten Conservatorium Antwerpen & Mark Applebaum

'Laboratorium' is an annual series of workshops for Conservatory students on contemporary composition and performance practice. This third series focuses on the use of electronics and new media. The artistic leaders are two internationally renowned composers, Yannis Kyriakides and Mark Applebaum. The Cypriot Kyriakides lives and works in Amsterdam, where he stimulates the electronic improvisation scene. The American Applebaum teaches at Stanford University and constructs electro-acoustic instruments from scrap, hardware, and discarded objects. Applebaum can be seen at work on his instrument, the Mouseketier, in the ensemble piece 'The Blue Cloak'.
