For Christian Zacharias, making music is a sacred mission. Over quarter of a century ago, this piano aristocrat was a guest at DE SINGEL for the first time, then performing Schubert’s complete piano sonatas. This season too he is diving into Schubert’s rich oeuvre, playing, amongst others, the Gasteiner Sonata, one of Schubert’s sunniest, most sparklingly rhythmic compositions. Tchaikovsky’s Seasons show a less familiar face of the Russian romantic. They are full of lyrical charm and harmonic subtleties, but with his unique melodic genius.
