Collegium 1704 & Collegium Vocale 1704 olv. Václav Luks
Monteverdi, Biber
Sumptuous instrumentation. One of the most inspiring young early music ensembles. A journey from Venice to Salzburg. What are you waiting for?
A selection from Monteverdi's exquisite 'Selva Morale e Spirituale' sets the tone. Nuances of sound compete with the mosaics of San Marco, and music wafts over you, warm and intoxicating. And young musicians from the Czech Republic, conducted by the passionate Václav Luks, give new meaning to the notion of authenticity.
After this, the 32 voices (16 soloists and 16 ripieni) reveal Biber's monumental 'Missa Salisburgensis' in all its glory. The sound opens up and fills the room like a peacock's tail. Biber prescribed a very unusual orchestra: 41 instrumentalists, including 10 trumpets. A unique opportunity to listen to a work packed with effects.
