Concert Christian Zacharias
Bach, Haydn
These days, Christian Zacharias is not only an internationally renowned pianist and conductor, but also an internet hit. The film in which a mobile phone starts to ring in the middle of a Haydn concerto has been viewed more than one and a half million times. Zacharias called out “Don’t answer! Let it ring!” and halted the concert to ask for the utmost concentration on one thing: the music. You have been warned! Zacharias feels most at home in the classical and early romantic biotope of Scarlatti, Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven. He is also enduringly drawn to Haydn. The way in which the composer deals with time, spatiality, context, repetitive elements, reduction and variation continues to fascinate him…
On 8 March Christian Zacharias will give a lecture recital in which he will explain his fascination with Haydn, illustrated with musical examples performed live.
