Unique, profoundly spiritual fusion of Händel and Pärt on historical instruments.
The 90th anniversary of Arvo Pärt is the reason for this unique collaboration. Concerto Copenhagen and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir bridge two and a half centuries of music history by confronting music by Handel with masterpieces by Arvo Pärt. Moreover, Concerto Copenhagen plays Pärt's works for the first time on historical instruments. Thus the pure sound of natural materials that so inspired Pärt comes together with the voices of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir - which excels at Pärt's music. In Handel’s Dixit Dominus for soloists, choir and orchestra, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, everything that both ensembles stand for comes together. Just like in the Berliner Messe by Pärt, this is about pure, timeless beauty and spiritual depth. In the meantime, Pärt sounds like his work has never sounded before and his work and that of Handel prove to have more in common than we ever imagined.
