The name of the Minneapolis-born pianist Craig Taborn will no doubt ring a bell: you'll already have encountered him as a sparring partner for, among others, James Carter, Roscoe Mitchell, Dave Douglas, Tim Berne and Chris Potter. A busy bee, with an output of some fifty CD-productions in ten years. He improvises theatrically and enjoys making statements. You won't hear any wild hammer-blows in his work. Instead, Tabor is an introverted lyricist who winds up a fragile, demanding musical tension. Craig Taborn's music is reminiscent of an imaginary film with collective, thematic and multi-voiced improvisation on original, unorthodox themes. By piling up the piano, double bass and drums in separate layers, preferably also in totally different rhythms and times, the trio circle one another independently in a realm beyond hallucination. And at that very moment Taborn softly raises up the listener and lets him float… Let yourself be carried along by Taborn, Morgan and Cleaver on a fascinating, complexly-rhythmed magical mystery tour.
