Cuarteto Quiroga & Javier Perianes
Turina, Granados, Halffter, Schumann
Time to rub your hands in glee: one of the world’s most successful contemporary pianists is making his debut at deSingel. The Spanish virtuoso Javier Perianes was praised by the ‘The Daily Telegraph’ as “a pianist of impeccable and refined taste, blessed with a warmth of touch”. As well as concerts in famous concert halls with the world’s leading orchestras, Perianes also attaches great importance to the intimate chamber music repertoire. In 2015 he released a CD together with the Cuarteto Quiroga featuring the work of the Spanish composers Joaquín Turina and Enrique Granados, which is full of melancholy and charming ‘local colour’. In terms of intensity and emotionality, Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet has no reason to be outdone by these southern gestures. With dense textures, virile interplay, unpredictable characters and agile rhythmicality, this is Schumann at his best!
