From the beginning of the 20th century, the musical landscape underwent a number of landslides, both large and small. Using new musical concepts, composers looked at the tonal Western musical tradition from a different perspective. In five lessons, you will unravel the most important musical styles and their representatives. From Schoenberg and dodecaphony to Stravinsky and his expression, from Boulez and serialism to electronic music by Goeyvaerts and Stockhausen, from Cage and his aleatory music to the minimalism of Riley and Glass. 20th-century music will come to mean more to you than just noise.
