Czech Philharmonic / Semyon Bychkov

A breath of Bohemian spring. Music Ohm
The illustrious course of conductor Semyon Bychkov runs from Buffalo in New York state, to Paris, to Cologne and London. However since 2018 the musical globetrotter has been based in Prague, where he leads the Czech Philharmonic orchestra. And they are absolutely delighted with their boss. First for several seasons he dived with his musicians into the depths of Tchaikovsky, but there comes a time with the Czech music troops when you can no longer get around Antonín Dvořák. Works by the ultimate Bohemian have been on the programme since the foundation of the orchestra in 1896, and today the link with his works is still incredibly deep. In Antwerp, the irrepressible Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World’ is the tasty main course, although the concerto overture Carnival, and the Piano Concerto are far more than simply appetizers.
