D-Radicalize!
Radicalisation. Few themes have caused such a furore over the past few years. The project ‘D-Radicalize!’ looks at the role that music can play in the way we form our opinions. The string orchestra Boho Strings and singers Lieselot De Wilde and Laila Amezian perform Western classical sounds and gems from the Arabo-Andalucian musical tradition. Simultaneously, we also see a video by the young Belgian-Moroccan film-maker Moussa Sah. We see Geraldine, a mother from Brussels who lost her son in Syria, and images of a youngster undergoing radicalisation who is searching for his place in society.
Without moralising, ‘D-Radicalize!’ unleashes questions and emotions amongst the pupils.
After the concert, there is time for processing and interpretation in private dialogue sessions with an Islam specialist and other experts.
