Kahil El’Zabar and David Murray have shared a profound musical bond for over 40 years. When they met in Chicago in 1975, there was immediately 'a real good vibration,' as El’Zabar later recalled. Since then, these two key figures in jazz have collaborated regularly, bringing their music to stages around the globe.
Percussionist and band leader Kahil El’Zabar has worked with legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley, Pharoah Sanders, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Paul Simon, and Neneh Cherry. Tenor saxophonist David Murray is regarded as one of the most influential players of his generation, and has recorded over three hundred projects. He has collaborated with the likes of Max Roach, Charles Mingus, Cecil Taylor, Jack DeJohnette, Chico Hamilton, Elvin Jones, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, and Randy Weston.
Together, Murray and El’Zabar deliver an intense interplay where spiritual jazz, improvisation, and decades of shared musical experience converge.
