The five men in the Calefax Reed Quintet work in a pipe factory. They do the same thing every day and it suits them well. So there is a great panic when orders suddenly stop coming in.

The men decide to start experimenting with the pipes. They make the oddest instruments... which also make very lovely sounds. Orders start streaming in again. And so The Music Factory is born.

From Byrd through Debussy to Scarlatti and Prokofiev: there are no words in this performance, but it is packed with humour and lots and lots of music.
