e-XXI - Robin Engelen
In the wake of the 'Vienna 1900' concert cycle by Het Collectief, the Antwerp Conservatory will organise a number of activities based on the repertoire of the 'Second Viennese School'.
This is mainly the result of the input by the young German conductor Robin Engelen. He has an exceptional affinity with the early twentieth-century Viennese repertoire and we know him from, among other things, his CD 'Pierrot Lunaire' with Het Collectief.
On the Conservatory programme there is a conductor's workshop centred on 'Pierrot Lunaire', with Het Collectief as the practice orchestra. In addition, Robin Engelen and the e-XXI chamber orchestra will rehearse a number of key works which will include Mahler, Schoenberg and Webern. The result of these sessions can be heard in a 'late-night' session following the final concert of the 'Vienna 1900' cycle.
