"Elisso Wirssaladze is an uncontrollable force of nature" according to Rudy Tambuyser, the music critic from De Morgen newspaper who is a great admirer of the Georgian pianist. For a long time, Elisso Wirssaladze was one of the best kept secrets behind the Iron Curtain. In the last couple of years she has made her mark on European concert platforms. Even as a child in the Soviet Union she had already become a living legend. In the 60s all hell broke loose in the audience when she was only given third prize in the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow. Wirssaladze studied with the great Heinrich Neuhaus; Vladimir Horowitz and Sviatoslav Richter were also among his pupils. Richter was totally amazed by the young pianist and called her technique "disconcertingly perfect". This will be Elisso Wirssaladze's return visit to deSingel and anyone who had the good fortune to hear her last time will definitely want a repeat performance.
