In this spatial concert you will both listen in a concert hall and at the same time read in it, together with Ensemble Cairn. You will not only hear a number of new compositions, but will also read extracts from the works of the French writer George Perec that will projected onto the walls of the hall. Our Blue Hall, Ircam and Le Grand R in La-Roche-sur-Yon are the first venues for this experiment.
The works are all connected to the spatialisation of sound. In Fabien Levy's 'Souvenirs de Cantenac', four musicians stand at a distance from each other in our entrance hall. Thierry Blondeau, inspired by such Spectralists as Gérard Grisey and Michel Levinas, incorporates into his work the notions of moving and following a course. In 'Stratigraphie', here being performed for the first time, Oliver Schneller uses layers of sound in combination with instruments of several registers. In just a few years, Philippe Leroux's 'Voi(rex)' has become one of the masterpieces of French post-Spectralism. It starts out from the human voice and employs numerous electro-acoustic techniques. In between the works, excerpts from Pierre Jodlowski's 'Jours 54' enter into dialogue with the extracts from George Perec's novel '53 jours' projected on the walls.
