duration
1h 30' Following 'Ghost Road' and 'Children of Nowhere', with 'Menuet' the young theatre-maker Fabrice Murgia ventures into a more intimate work. 'But as he says, 'it is still all about the major themes: loneliness, shame, sexual desire. Things you find always and everywhere, where people live together'.
The LOD composer Daan Janssens is responsible for the music. He feels perfectly at home in literature. He has often drawn on Pessoa's 'Book of Disquiet' and in 2011, the Maeterlinck year, he composed the opera 'Les Aveugles'. Now too he is taking on a classic: Louis Paul Boon's 'Menuet'. A man spends his days in a company's ice cellar and longs for the young domestic maid while his hyperactive wife gives birth to an illegitimate child. An intriguing music-theatre creation.
