Farida Amadou - two nights of improvisation and groove.
This season, DE SINGEL invites the versatile bassist and performer Farida Amadou for a two-day residency in April 2027. During this ‘carte blanche,’ she showcases various facets of her practise, featuring both a large ensemble and open, improvisational collaborations.
On the first evening, Amadou brings together her Kaleidoscope Ensemble - a group of long-standing musical partners for whom West African rhythms and melodies merge with a solid foundation of European free improvisation. The ensemble unfolds as a collective journey through the diverse backgrounds and virtuosity of the musicians.
The second evening is dedicated to Radical Listening. Joined by invited colleagues, Amadou lets the music emerge in real time: without a fixed setlist or roles, carried by deep attentiveness and shared risk. Between groove, texture, and charged silences, an intense and unpredictable soundscape arises, in which listening itself becomes the driving force.
