Graham Johnson is coming again! This time he will play songs by Poulenc, which still don't get the recognition they deserve. Poulenc wrote no less than 150 surprisingly varied songs, from playful satire to deeply serious religious themes. Easily accessible but hard to grasp. As a whole it is an indestructible yet delicate oeuvre. The texts come from the major poets of his day, including Cocteau, Apollinaire and Eluard.
Graham Johnson will once again be in exceedingly good company. The soprano Felicity Lott is the British 'grande dame' of French melody. The baritone Jonathan McGovern is one of today's rising stars. Together they perform a fine selection of songs by Poulenc, on which Johnson of course also comments in his inimitable style. No lover of songs should miss this!
