Even in his twenties, the international press were already searching for superlatives to describe him. In 2008, he won the Echo Classical prize for 'Instrumentalist of the year'. Behind the scenes in the world of brass he is being compared, albeit with some caution, to the trumpet king Maurice André. The soaring Hungarian star trumpeter Gábor Boldoczki will make his deSingel debut with the renowned Franz Liszt Chamber orchestra in tow.
The programme is a selection of virtuoso fireworks, where Giuseppe Torelli's (1658-1709) original 'Trumpet concerto' is slotted in between two trumpet arrangements: Bach's original 'Concerto in A' for alto flute and the 'Concertino' by Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848) for English Horn. Boldoczki will prove, in this final work, that the Italian composer did not excel only in the opera genre.
For the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, this is a fantastic opportunity to show their excellence. After an introductory 'Sinfonia' by Vivaldi, they have selected one of Handel's most beautiful 'Concerti Grossi', opus 6, no. 4. To conclude, Bartók's 'Divertimento for Strings', an impressive work that seems written into the DNA of this Hungarian orchestra.
