Free Music XXXIII
Festivaldag 1
The first day of the Free Music Festival is devoted to Misha Mengelberg and Han Bennink. They have been together for forty years now, and on stage are still just as incisive and surprising. Prior to their concert, the festival presents the Belgian premiere of the film portrait 'Afijn', in which Jellie Dekker tries to figure out what makes Mengelberg tick. And at 6 pm in the foyer of deSingel Han Bennink himself will open the exhibition of his art work. The young duo of Erik Rottiers and Eli Van de Vondel are products of the hotbed that is Ciclic in Ghent, and present improvisations and soundscapes of acoustic music and live electronics.
In the corridors:
- exhibition by Han Bennink
- screening of 'Afijn' (long version, 90 min), film about Misha Mengelberg by Jellie Dekker
