Free Music XXXIII
Festivaldag 3
Médéric Collignon, a real phenomenon, is a living firework display of trumpet, vocal sounds, electronics and a thousand dazzling tricks. In Belgium he is known only for his work with Louis Sclavis, but is now at last coming to Free Music in his own much-talked about duo with the percussionist Phillipe Gleizes. The video film-maker Scorpène Horrible takes his name from a poisonous fish and a type of submarine. This mysterious submariner and the guitarist Marc Ducret came across each other not so long ago and in real time conjure up a dark world of images and sound by means of improvisation. Another, long-awaited first is the closing concert by the saxophonist Mats Gustafsson and the Italian hardcore trio Zu. They describe their music concisely as follows: 'We play loud'. You have been warned.
In the corridors:
- exhibition by Han Bennink
- screening of 'Afijn' (long version, 90 min), film about Misha Mengelberg by Jellie Dekker
