We have had quite a soft spot for the Israeli cellist Gavriel Lipkind for some time. His whirlwind debut recital in deSingel two seasons ago remains fresh in our memories. Technically perfect, certainly, but also with a deeply personal vision of music, which he knows how to communicate in a very direct way. As a prodigy, he was the soloist with major international orchestras from around the world, and he appeared primed for a glittering career. However, he withdrew from concert life for a few years to reenergize and expand his repertoire. A man we hold dear to our hearts.
We are particularly elated about this unique project where you can experience Gavriel Lipkind's versatility in real life. For the first time, Lipkind will give a recital with his new pianist and kindred spirit Roman Zaslavsky. At its heart is 'pure' music by Beethoven, Brahms, Stravinsky and Britten. Lipkind will subsequently be working with students in three days of master-classes. To finish, he rounds off his residency in deSingel with a lecture recital where he turns his attention to a Bach suite and a contemporary work.
