‘Who has the right to compose anything after Beethoven?’ Schubert once asked. But in fact it was he himself who matched the beauty of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. Reason enough for master pianist Till Fellner to immerse himself exclusively in Schubert’s late music. We follow him on his journey in four recitals spread over two seasons. From the monumental ‘Wanderer Fantasy’ of 1822 to the magnificent Sonata in B-flat of 1828.

Like Beethoven, Schubert elevates his personal expression to general human feelings, albeit in his own way.
