Graham Johnson

Graham Johnson is the Schubert Lieder specialist. His recordings of the composer's more than 600 lieder have resulted in 37 CDs, all supplemented with very interesting essays. Johnson is now revising all his writings and creating a true 'Schubert Lieder Encyclopaedia'. Over a period of three seasons, Graham Johnson will devote 2 lecture recitals per season to the world of Schubert's Lieder. In the first two lectures Graham Johnson will be focusing on the two major song cycles 'Die schöne Müllerin' and 'Winterreise'. The tenor joining him is the young Robin Tritschler (winner of the international Lieder contest at the Wigmore Hall in 2007). Not only will you hear the complete works, but Johnson will also explain in great depth how Schubert handled Wilhelm Müller's poems.
