graindelavoix - Romanesque
Mappamundi - Italiaanse liederen uit het Cinquecento
Two young Flemish ensembles will explore the Italian music of the Fifteenth century. Voice and original historical pluck instruments determine their sound.
With 'Mappamundi' Graindela Voix creates an imaginary legend of the Italian region, referred to as 'Cicilia': Naples and surrounding areas, including Calabria, Apulia, Sardenia, Corsica and the island Sicily itself. A map, which at the same time sets out to mark the limits of what defines old music or classical music compared to the traditional folklore repertory. Graindela Vox aims to blur the artistic line between oral tradition, traditional customs and composed art music. The ensemble Romanesque is specialized on the Early Baroque. Without negating the original source, it allows room for improvisation and embellishment, as prescribed by the tractati of the old masters. On the program of Romanesque are works of unknown composers such as Giorgio Mainerio, Serafino dall'Aquila, Vincenzo Capirola, Gian Domenico da Nola, Francesco de Layolle, ...
