Playfully, with combinations of materials and techniques, the trio spirits away any difference between composition and improvisation using differently coloured layers of sound. Tradition and innovation are virtually indistinguishable. Free improvisation was the trio's starting point when they began working together in 1989. Twenty years later these three alert musicians switch effortlessly from tautly composed parts to totally free passages. Their adventurous story succeeds in gripping us time and time again, right down to the last note. The trio continues to find openings and cracks in the dense music through which to fire off unforeseen accents with a subtle, virtually unnoticeable irony.
