A single theme, twelve notes. This was all Bach needed to create his magnum opus. ‘The Art of Fugue’ is an unprecedentedly fine example of compositional skill, in which the Baroque grand master allows his theme to take on all possible forms and guises. This more than 250-year old work intrigued the German composer Johannes Schöllhorn, who decided to seek out hidden dimensions. In ‘Anamorphoses’ he surprises the listener with a fresh interpretation of ‘The Art of Fugue’, in which numerous unexpected colours and shapes emerge. In this concert you hear the two versions side by side, which at times is positively hallucinogenic. Add to this the colourful splendour of Het Collectief and you can hold on tight for a psychedelic journey through musical history!
