Het Improviserend Strijkorkest . Tristan Honsinger

Since 1978, the American cellist Tristan Honsinger has been based in Amsterdam with the ICP Orchestra. Erik van de Berg wrote in De Volkskrant: "His compositions are like a child's drawing, or rather, like a story from 'Winnie the Pooh': clumsy and touchingly simple but full of meaning for whoever wants to read more into them." They consist of sub-groups which give shape to the rich diversity of the compositions through musical conversations. This is done by means of written scores or in arrangements and by signals made on the spot. The carefully chosen musicians bring their musical baggage along with them: Caribbean and South African influences, contemporary musical compositions, jazz, rock…
