HIELE

The Belgian Roman Hiele (b. 1991) composes and is a producer of electronic music. He completed his studies as a jazz musician, is obsessed with synthetic sound and cannot be placed in a single category: he has already collaborated with theatre, documentaries, fashion and art. In contrast to his solo project ‘Hiele’, in ‘Bin Frei’ he focuses on cooperation with others. It enters into a dialogue with electronic and acoustic sound reproductions within the performance space. In a polyphonic electro-acoustic instrumentation, contrasts between voluminous music and minimal forms of resonant sounds are magnified to create a spectral sound of give and take. The influence of the stage on the performance of ‘Bin Frei’ is emphasized by a cinematic play of darkness and light.
